Wonderful view of lake from dining hall and terrace. Nice garden and pool. While not a luxury 5 star the hotel is tastefully designed with nice garden and pool. Good functioning spa facility and a variety of massage and beauty care options. Great pool and spa with a gorgeous view of the lake and mountains. The staff is absolutely attentive and genuinely courteous without being superficial.

only stayed one night

This hotel has a lot of class and can be easily categorised as a 4.5* hotel. It is located in a beautiful and quite area, with trees, and a fantastic view on the lake. We stayed 2 nights there and enjoyed the service, the spa, as well as the very good breakfast buffet. You can also rent a bicycle for free, which is very useful to go to Locarno (5- 10min) and Ascona (15-20min). Definitely a very good choice.

The very friendly, multilingual and helpfull stuff. The facilities, cleanless and comfort. And whats also was a huge benefit for me is the breakfast time till 11am! For travellera they did not arrive with a car they even have the possibility to rent the hotel owned smart. All in all a extraordinary value for a unbeatable price!

Nada...Nothing to complain so far. ok, the only thing I could "complain" is that the hotel owner car, a smart, is unfortunately not a convertible one. Would be nice in the summertime to cruise around the Lago Maggiore with a open roof.

The room was spacious, and the lake view gorgeous. The spa was great. The staff was friendly and professional. Loved the breakfast buffet.

The wood flooring, spartan decoration and the non-platform bed made the room feel a little cold (the bad weather did not help, I guess). We probably should have gone for the (very expensive) dinner at the hotel, seeing the poor quality/price ratio for meals at restaurants in locarno. Haven't seen such bland food at such high prices in ages.

Wireless lan only @ exorbitant prices (even 3 star hotels give you free access, only one Internet pc, apparent constant shortage of staff (spa reception was never manned, had to call for breakfast service on 2 days because nobody was showing, they wouldn't want to exchange regular coke by Diet Coke in the minibar on grounds that the minibar was free (I do not see any logic herein)

I love everythng about this hotel, I particularly like the heated outdoor pool, the excellent breakfast and the view from the restaurant terrace

Esplanade offers an excellent service in a very relaxing atmosphere. staff and management take care of details such as: complimentary transport from/ to train station, a bottle of water when you leave, excellent breakfast buffet including local specialities, little sweets on your pillow, complimentary bicycles, and many more. Everything is as described or even better (now even w/ complimentary wifi)! The hotel is around 25min (by foot) or 5min (by bus, 4/hour) away from Locarno city center. The hotel offers a beautiful garden with palm trees and a heated pool. Dinner and breakfast are served on a terrace w/ an astonishing view over lake Locarno. Buy the ticino discovery card (also available at reception) and use public transport, cable cars, museums and other attractions like lidos in the entire ticino region.

Quiet area. The hotel has sufficient (free) parking space. The breakfast has nice fresh bread. Large pool.

This is a quite old building, that was renovated nicely. However the rooms still have the old fashioned small size. Bathroom is too tiny and not furnished up to modern standards. Television located at unhandy location, next to the bed.

Superb - would highly recommend this hotel. We stayed here 25 years ago when we got married and came back to celebrate our Silver Wedding and it certainly did not disappoint. If anything, it's even better now!
